Pharyngoplasty
Pharyngoplasty is an operation to change the shape and function of the soft palate (space behind the palate - pharynx) by repositioning the muscles of the pharynx. The surgery will decrease the size of the pharynx to approximately the size of the tip of the little finger and will help to prevent air from coming down the nose during speech.
Bronchoscopy
Bronchoscopy is a procedure that lets doctors look at your lungs and air passages. It's usually performed by a doctor who specializes in lung disorders (a pulmonologist). During bronchoscopy, a thin tube (bronchoscope) is passed through your nose or mouth, down your throat and into your lungs. Bronchoscopy is most commonly performed using a flexible bronchoscope. However, in certain situations, such as if there's a lot of bleeding in your lungs or a large object is stuck in your airway, a rigid bronchoscope may be needed
Septoplasty
Septoplasty is a surgical procedure to straighten the bone and cartilage dividing the space between your two nostrils (septum). When the septum is crooked, it's known as a deviated septum. A deviated septum can make it harder to breathe through your nose and can increase the risk of sinus infections due to poor drainage. During septoplasty, your nasal septum is repositioned to the middle of your nose. This may require your surgeon to cut and remove parts of your nasal septum before reinserting them in the proper position. Once a septoplasty is healed, you'll likely find it's easier to breathe.
Thyroplasty
Thyroplasty is a specialised procedure performed on the larynx for patients with vocal cord paralysis, a serious condition that occurs when there is an injury to the recurrent laryngeal nerve, which supplies the majority of the muscles of the larynx. Nerve injury can be due to a number of causes, the most common of which is surgery, typically of the thyroid gland. It can also be caused by tumors, radiation injury, and neck trauma, among others.
Maxillary Antral - Sinus Washout
The maxillary sinus is irrigated with saline solution by a cannula introduced through the inferior meatus. The solution circulates inside the sinus cavity and comes out together without together with accumulated discharge through the natural ostium in the middle meatus. The wash out is done with a special trocar and cannula under local surface anesthesia using sterile saline solution.
Adenoidectomy
Adenoid removal, also called an adenoidectomy, is a common surgery to remove the adenoids. The adenoids are glands located in the roof of the mouth, behind the soft palate where the nose connects to the throat. The adenoids produce antibodies, or white blood cells, that help fight infections. Typically, the adenoids shrink during adolescence and may disappear by adulthood. Doctors often perform adenoid removals and tonsillectomies — removal of the tonsils — together. Chronic throat and respiratory infections often cause inflammation and infection in both glands.
Ethmoidectomy
The ethmoid sinuses are located between your eyes and the bridge of your nose. They are important in helping your body treat most sinus infections because all of the other sinuses drain through or next to them. So if your ethmoid sinuses are blocked, the infection can spread to the other sinuses. An ethmoidectomy removes infected tissue and bone in the ethmoid sinuses that blocks natural drainage.
Snoring Correction Surgery
Snoring is sound created by vibration of tissue in the throat (usually the soft palate, or back section of the roof of the mouth) during sleep. There are a number of treatment options, including conservative steps like weight loss, sleeping on your side or stomach rather than on your back, and avoiding alcohol within 3 hours of bedtime. Surgery can also be very effective, especially when combined with these basic approaches. Just like with sleep apnea surgery, the key with snoring surgery is to figure out what is causing the snoring and coming up with a plan that matches the person who snores. The most common snoring procedures are those that involve the nose or the soft palate.
Mastoidectomy
A mastoidectomy is a surgery that removes diseased cells from the air-filled spaces in your mastoid bone. Your mastoid is the part of your skull that sits just behind your ear. Mastoidectomy is often used to treat cholesteatoma, or ear infections that have spread into your skull. It’s also used when placing cochlear implants. A mastoidectomy is a surgery that removes diseased mastoid air cells. These air cells form in the hollow spaces within your mastoid — a sponge-like, honeycomb-shaped bone that sits just behind your ear.
Maxillary Antrostomy
Maxillary antrostomy is a surgical procedure to enlarge the opening (ostium) of the maxillary sinus. This allows for further surgical intervention within the maxillary sinus cavity as well as improved sinus drainage. Maxillary antrostomy has been practiced since the mid-1980s and is the most likely surgical approach to be performed if you have chronic sinusitis that is unresponsive to other medical therapies.
