Pharyngoplasty is an operation to change the shape and function of the soft palate (space behind the palate - pharynx) by repositioning the muscles of the pharynx. The surgery will decrease the size of the pharynx to approximately the size of the tip of the little finger and will help to prevent air from coming down the nose during speech.
